1 Хіба ж я не вільний? Чи ж я не апо́стол? Хіба я не бачив Ісуса Христа, Господа нашого? Хіба ви, — то не справа моя перед Господом?

2 Коли я не апо́стол для інших, то для вас я апостол, — ви бо печа́ть мого апо́стольства в Господі.

3 Оце оборона моя перед тими, хто судить мене.

4 Чи ми права не маємо їсти та пити?

5 Чи ми права не маємо водити з собою сестру́, дружи́ну, як і інші апо́столи, і Господні брати, і Ки́фа?

6 Хіба я один і Варна́ва не маємо права, щоб не працювати?

7 Хто коштом своїм коли служить у ві́йську? Або хто виноградника садить, — і не їсть з його плоду? Або хто ота́ру пасе, — і не їсть молока від ота́ри?

8 Чи я тільки по-лю́дському це говорю́? Хіба ж і Зако́н не говорить цього?

9 Бо в Зако́ні Мойсеєвім писано: „Не в'яжи рота волові, що молотить“. Хіба за волів Бог турбується?

10 Чи говорить Він зо́всім для нас? Для нас, бо написано, що з надією мусить орати ора́ч, а моло́тник — молотити з надією мати частку в своїм сподіва́нні.

11 Коли ми сіяли вам духовне, чи ж велика то річ, як пожнемо́ ми ваше тілесне?

12 Як право на вас мають інші, то тим більше ми. Але ми не вжили́ цього права, та все те́рпимо, аби перешкоди якої Христовій Єва́нгелії ми не вчинили.

13 Хіба ви не знаєте, що священнослужителі від святині годуються? Що ті, хто служить вівтаре́ві, із вівтаря́ мають частку?

14 Так і Госпо́дь наказав проповідникам Єва́нгелії жити з Єва́нгелії.

15 Але з того нічого не вжив я. А цього́ не писав я для того, щоб для мене так було́. Бо мені краще вмерти, аніж щоб хто зні́вечив хвалу мою!

16 Бо коли я звіщаю Єва́нгелію, то нема чим хвалитись мені, — це бо повинність моя. І горе мені, коли я не звіщаю Єва́нгелії!

17 Тож коли це роблю́ добровільно, я маю нагоро́ду; коли ж недобровільно, то виконую службу дору́чену.

18 Яка ж нагорода мені? — Та, що, благові́стячи, я безкори́сливо проповідував Христову Єва́нгелію, не використо́вуючи особистих прав щодо благові́стя.

19 Від усіх бувши вільний, я зробився рабом для всіх, щоб найбільше придбати.

20 Для юдеїв я був, як юдей, щоб юдеїв придбати; для підзако́нних — був, як підзако́нний, хоч сам підзако́нним не бувши, щоб придбати підзако́нних.

21 Для тих, хто без Зако́ну, — я був беззако́нний, не бувши беззаконний Богові, а законний Христові, щоб придбати беззаконних.

22 Для слаби́х, — як слаби́й, щоб придбати слабих. Для всіх я був усе, щоб спасти бодай деяких.

23 А це я роблю́ для Єва́нгелії, щоб стати її спільником.

24 Хіба ви не знаєте, що ті, хто на перегонах біжить, усі біжать, але нагороду приймає один? Біжіть так, щоб оде́ржали ви!

25 І кожен змагу́н від усього стримується; вони ж — щоб тлінний прийняти вінок, але ми — щоб нетлінний.

26 Тож біжу́ я не так, немов на непевне, борюся не так, немов би повітря б'ючи́.

27 Але вмертвляю й неволю я тіло своє, щоб, звіщаючи іншим, не стати само́му негі́дним.

4 Have2192 we not power1849 to eat5315 and to drink?4095

5 Have2192 we not power1849 to lead4013 about4013 a sister,79 a wife,1135 as well2532 as other3062 apostles,652 and as the brothers80 of the Lord,2962 and Cephas?2786

6 Or2228 I only3441 and Barnabas,921 have2192 not we power1849 to forbear3361 working?2038

7 Who5100 goes a warfare4754 any4218 time4218 at4218 his own2398 charges?3800 who5100 plants5452 a vineyard,290 and eats2068 not of the fruit2590 thereof?846 or2228 who5100 feeds4165 a flock,4167 and eats2068 not of the milk1051 of the flock?4167

8 Say2980 I these5023 things as a man?444 or2228 said3004 not the law3551 the same5023 also?2532

9 For it is written1125 in the law3551 of Moses,3475 You shall not muzzle5392 the mouth of the ox1016 that treads248 out the corn. Does God2316 take care3199 for oxen?1016

10 Or2228 said3004 he it altogether3843 for our sakes? For our sakes, no1063 doubt,1063 this is written:1125 that he that plows722 should3784 plow722 in hope;1680 and that he that threshes248 in hope1680 should be partaker3348 of his hope.1680

11 If1487 we have2192 sown4687 to you spiritual4152 things, is it a great3173 thing if1487 we shall reap2325 your5216 carnal4559 things?

12 If1487 others243 be partakers3348 of this3588 power1849 over you, are not we rather?3123 Nevertheless235 we have2192 not used5530 this5026 power;1849 but suffer4722 all3956 things, lest2443 3361 we should hinder5100 the gospel2098 of Christ.5547

13 Do you not know1492 that they which minister2038 about holy2413 things live2068 of the things of the temple?2411 and they which wait4332 at the altar2379 are partakers4829 with the altar?2379

14 Even2532 so3779 has the Lord2962 ordained1299 that they which preach2605 the gospel2098 should live2198 of the gospel.2098

15 But I have used5530 none3762 of these5130 things: neither have I written1125 these5023 things, that it should be so3779 done1096 to me: for it were better2570 3123 for me to die,599 than2228 that any5100 man should make2758 my glorying2745 void.2758

16 For though1437 I preach2097 the gospel,2097 I have2076 nothing3756 to glory2745 of: for necessity318 is laid1945 on me; yes,1161 woe3759 is to me, if1437 I preach2097 not the gospel!2097

17 For if1487 I do4238 this5124 thing willingly,1635 I have2192 a reward:3408 but if1487 against210 my will,210 a dispensation3622 of the gospel is committed4100 to me.

18 What5101 is my reward3408 then?3767 Truly that, when I preach2097 the gospel,2097 I may make5087 the gospel2098 of Christ5547 without77 charge,77 that I abuse2710 not my power1849 in the gospel.2098

19 For though I be free1658 from all3956 men, yet have2192 I made1402 myself1683 servant1402 to all,3956 that I might gain2770 the more.4119

20 And to the Jews2453 I became1096 as a Jew,2453 that I might gain2770 the Jews;2453 to them that are under5259 the law,3551 as under5259 the law,3551 that I might gain2770 them that are under5259 the law;3551

21 To them that are without459 law,459 as without459 law,459 (being5607 not without459 law459 to God,2316 but under1772 the law1772 to Christ,5547) that I might gain2770 them that are without459 law.459

22 To the weak770 became1096 I as weak,770 that I might gain2770 the weak:770 I am made1096 all3956 things to all3956 men, that I might by all3956 means3843 save4982 some.5100

23 And this5124 I do4160 for the gospel's2098 sake, that I might be partaker4791 thereof846 with you.

24 Know1492 you not that they which run5143 in a race4712 run5143 all,3956 but one1520 receives2983 the prize?1017 So3779 run,5143 that you may obtain.2638

25 And every3956 man that strives75 for the mastery is temperate1467 in all3956 things. Now3303 they do it to obtain2983 a corruptible5349 crown;4735 but we an incorruptible.862

26 I therefore5106 so3779 run,5143 not as uncertainly;84 so3779 fight4438 I, not as one that beats1194 the air:109

27 But I keep5299 under5299 my body,4983 and bring1396 it into subjection:1396 lest3381 that by any3381 means,4458 when I have preached2784 to others,243 I myself should be a castaway.96
